Compliance Information
All Visiplex products components use UL-approved parts and are compliant with Department of Defense United Facilities Criteria (UFC), speech intelligibility (STI-PA) standard 2003 IEC 60268-16, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), OSHA, ADA, and NFPA standards and codes. Visiplex wireless products and solutions are fully compliant with Americans with Disabilities (ADA) standards by synchronizing both audio and visual message transmissions.
United Facilities Criteria (UFC)
The Department of Defense (DoD) created the UFC 4-021-01, which states that mass notification can provide real-time information to all building occupants or personnel near a building during emergencies. UFC 4-021-01 is to provide mass notification in compliance with the requirements of UFC 4-010-01, DoD Minimum Antiterrorism Standards for Buildings. OSHA 1910.165
The Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) 1910.165 requires employers that use an alarm system to provide warning for necessary emergency action as called in the emergency action plan or reaction time for the safe escape of employees from the workplace, the immediate work area, or both. The Visiplex AlertWave system is compliant with OSHA 1910.165.
California Senate Bill No. 553 (SB 553)
California Senate Bill 553 (SB 553) amended California Labor Code section 6401.7 and created section 6401.9 and the new requirements found in those Labor Code sections will be in effect and enforceable on July 1, 2024. Cal/OSHA is currently working on the development of a workplace violence prevention standard for general industry. The Visiplex AlertWave system is compliant with SB 553.
NFPA – 72
A Mass Notification System, according to Annex E of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 72, provides information and instructions to people in a building, area, site, or other space using intelligible voice communications methods and possibly including visible signals, text, graphics, tactile or other communication methods. The Visiplex AlertWave system complies with the requirements listed in Annex E, which covers the application, installation, location, performance, and maintenance of a Mass Notification System.
FEMA
Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Outdoor Public Alerting System Guide (December 2004) updates and reflects technological advances, describes “the benefits of using voice technology to address all natural and man-made hazards, including acts of terrorism, and requires that all warning systems be operable in the absence of AC supply power.” The Visiplex AlertWave system complies with all these requirements of a Mass Notification System.
